The Publishing Life Spotlight: Episode 3
Table of contents

Welcome to a new segment of our blog where we feature the incredible human beings who make the publishing life possible for moms, dads, college students, and entrepreneurs all over the world. We hope you get to know and love them as much as we do and walk away feeling more inspired for the rest of your day, whether you’re an early bird or a night owl.

Today, we’re introducing you to Melissa, or as our team knows her, Mel!

Meet the Publishing.Com Team! Introducing Mel

Name: Mel

Role: Product Development Manager

Location: Gold Coast, Australia

How long have you been with Publishing.com? 2.5 years

If you could sum up Publishing.com with one word, what would it be? And why?

Life-changing. Publishing.com has given me the freedom & flexibility I've always desired. It afforded my family & me the opportunity to move to our dream destination, Australia. Because of Publishing.com, I have the opportunity to contribute towards my household income & actively participate in my kids' lives. I feel blessed every single day.

What has been the most unexpected surprise about being part of this team?

I did not expect the level of motivation and mentoring I've experienced working here. Whether it's been from Rasmus, Christian, & Charlotte, or other team members, people care & want you to excel in life—whether it's in your career, publishing, or personal.

What’s one thing you wish you could tell our students?

Just keep going! Never give up. Even if you feel defeated with your first book, try and try again. This DOES work. Put in the hours and make the sacrifices—it is so worth it!

Who are your greatest mentors (in the world)? Why?

I appreciate sportsmen & businessmen—Their level of commitment, dedication, sacrifice & perseverance always inspires & motivates me. Success stories like Elon Musk, Christiano Ronaldo, Tiger Woods, and Tony Robbins.

How many books have you published?

  1. 1-3
  2. 4-10
  3. 11+

What are your publishing goals?

I'd like to do 50k, then 100k in a single month.

What personal goals has this job allowed you to go after?

The biggest one would be the confidence  & achievement to move countries, knowing that I have an income. That we weren't tied down or bound to something & could actually achieve our goal & move to the Gold Coast.

What has being part of this team meant for your family?

It's been huge. A game-changer. Not only from a financial aspect, but it's also enabled me to be there for my kids without being tied down to a 9-5 pm. Having the flexibility to do school pick-ups, activities, etc, means the world to us—Especially because, as expats, we don't have the family support.

Work/Life Balance? We’ve Got That.

Parenthood is a full-time job. Over half of our team has at least one kid (and some have as many as a dozen…yep, you read that right).

Wondering what it’s like to work somewhere that WANTS you to spend more time with your kids? Come find out!
